FAIRMOUNT
UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST,
CONGREGATIONAL
(FAIRMOUNT COMMUNITY CHURCH)

Wichita, Kansas

WHAT WE BELIEVE:

(UNOFFICIAL-TEMPORARY INFORMATION)

We believe in individual conscience, enlightened by God -- directly, and through the shared thoughts of other children of God.   Each of us is responsible before God for our own beliefs, and must honestly accept our own understanding of God and Truth as they are revealed to us.   However, most of us share the following beliefs of Christian faith:

We believe that One God is the Creator of all, and is Lord of Heaven and Earth.

As "Christians" we believe that Jesus of Nazareth was the Son of God -- The Christ -- sent by God the Father over 2,000 years ago, to be born and live as a mortal man. As the Christ, He came to free us from the bondage of sin, by teaching us how to live, and by giving His life as a sacrifice for our sins.

We believe that Jesus Christ, suffered and died on the cross, but then arose from the dead, visited his followers, and then returned to Heaven, where He awaits those who follow Him. His resurrection is God's sign of the promise of Life after Death.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Holy Trinity of God (Father, Son & Holy Spirit). The Holy Spirit brings Divine Wisdom and Inspiration to the hearts and minds of those who truly seek God's guidance.

Our individual beliefs are further guided by:
  • the scriptures of the Holy Bible
  • the traditions and teachings of the global Christian community
  • the combined wisdom of the United Church of Christ
  • the insights and observations of our pastor and visiting clergy
  • the understanding and faith of the Fairmount Church congregation
    and
  • the conscience of our individual hearts and minds.

We believe that all people are called by God to love each other. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
